“In the Know” Campaign Addresses Misconceptions and Stigma Regarding Addiction

The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) today announced the launch of a new multi-faceted public awareness campaign designed to raise awareness about addiction. The “In the Know” campaign addresses many common misconceptions about addiction prevention, treatment and recovery. The goal is to empower people with facts pertaining to substance use disorder and eliminate stigma.

Overdose up 22% compared to 2016

​​Drug-overdose deaths in the Big Apple have shot up by 22 percent so far this year, police officials said Monday.

The city has seen 344 overdose deaths so far this year, up from 283 in the same period last year, officials said.
